Product Engineer (Manager) OEM Business Unit:
Responsible for design and development of OEM products in a $7 million profit center centered on technology products including: integrating spheres, highly reflecting materials and coatings, electronics and spectrometers. Technical support of OEM customers and regional sales managers in US, Asia and Europe. Responsible for pre-sale support including review/development of Statement-Of-Work and Specifications, product design, and product development of a wide variety of OEM products. Must have solid technical knowledge and understanding of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures. Project Management skills or desire to rapidly become proficient in Project Management techniques. Strong communicator both written and verbal. Participates in new product testing for quality and usability purposes and recommends changes to product specifications, as necessary. Transitions products to manufacturing ensuring production procedures efficiently utilize materials and personnel. Internal voice and champion of customer to ensure organization meets or exceeds all commitments to OEM Customers. BSME, BSMat.Science (polymers), or BS Physics with 2-5 years experience. Strong engineering experience and technical credentials. Mechanical and/or electrical engineering preferred. High energy and commitment to rapid response to stakeholders are absolute requirements. Interest in and experience with customers, commitment to complete solutions, attention to detail are strong qualifiers.
Software Architect:
Labsphere is looking for someone who can design, develop, and enhance their next generation of light measurement software, while building and leading a distributed international technical team. In the first year, the Lead Software Architect will be responsible for developing a software application that interfaces with Labsphere’s world-class scientific instruments, including a flexible API, extensible object oriented framework, user-friendly interfaces, and best practice testing and documentation. As part of the development effort, the Architect will assist in recruiting and mentoring an onshore and offshore development team to further enhance Labsphere’s new and custom software capabilities.
Required skills include: • 5-10 years experience in a software leadership position • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or commensurate experience • Strong understanding of the entire Software Development Lifecycle, as well as the tools and processes to support it • Project management – working to within budget and timeline constraints • Team management – demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams of engineers, testers, designers, and scientists • Excellent analytical skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desirable skills include: • Educational or practical background in optical, mechanical, electrical, and/or chemical engineering • Experience with the development of LabView .NET modules • Experience in software engineer recruiting
