Technical Customer Support Specialist

Summary: The Technical Customer Support Specialist provides Help Desk support to Labsphere customers and the sales team.  As a key member of the sales team, you will strive to create the best customer experience possible by quickly resolving customer issues and providing technical expertise on Labsphere products and technologies.

Role:

As a Technical Customer Support Specialist, you will provide critical sales and technical support through a deep understanding of Labsphere products, assisting customers in the diagnosis and resolution of product issues.  You will also become a valuable resource to Labsphere global sales team as you develop strong customer relationships.  In this role you will be an internal customer advocate by driving resolution of pre-sales and post-sales tasks:

  • Pre-sales Support: assist customers and the sales team with your knowledge of our products and of customer applications and needs. 
  • Post-sales Support: your mission is to quickly triage customer issues and drive to a successful completion, either as the lead or in support of Labsphere engineering and operations groups.

Responsibilities:

The Technical Customer Support Specialist is responsible for sales support tasks and coordinating technical tasks with Labsphere engineering and operation groups in the following areas:

Pre-Sales           

  • Technical Support: triage support requests to appropriate engineering and operations support personnel
  • Information Requests: provide customers with the necessary product information and documentation to allow for informed an educated purchasing decision
  • New Sales: develop and triage new sales opportunities which come in through the sales phone line, website, or email
  • Quotes: take the lead on component and small custom quotes, and support engineering and sales managers on more complex quotes

Post-Sales         

  • Equipment Service: coordinate logistical support for customers in need of servicing of existing equipment
  • Support Tasks: take the lead on sales support tasks and triage/support technical support tasks coordinating with the engineering and operations groups
  • Support Cases: triage and coordinate the resolution of customer issues/cases to a successful resolution
  • Startup Assistance: improve the customer’s post-sale experience by assisting with first time set-up, training and use of Labsphere products
  • Product Documentation: provide customers with necessary documentation to allow for proper use of Labsphere products

QUALIFICATIONS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the above tasks satisfactorily and want to be a part of a dynamic fast-moving sales support team.  The successful candidate must also have:

  • 3-10 years technical experience with a strong interest in helping customers
  • Interest in complimenting your strong technical skills with commercial and customer-facing skills
  • Experience in one or more of the following markets: Physics, Aerospace, Automotive, Analytical Instruments, Lighting, Optical & Laser
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal skills with excellent phone, verbal and written communications
  • High energy level and goal/results oriented
  • Strong initiative and sense of urgency
  • Positive attitude, excellent time management skills, strong problem-solving skills, technical and analytical aptitude

EDUCATION:

Technical degree with a concentration in science or engineering from a technical school, college or university.

COMPENSATION:

Position qualifies for a base + variable (commission) salary structure.

Spray Paint Technician

SPRAY PAINT TECHNICIAN: MANUFACTURING

Essential Job Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Prepare/mask surfaces for sandblasting and coating per written procedures
  • Spray optical coatings on products
  • Remove masking and coating as per drawings or instructions
  • Follow work schedule per the Coating Lead’s instructions
  • Inspect work while performing these processes to ensure quality
  • Operate sandblaster and random orbital sanders per instructions provided
  • Accurately report time worked and completed via paperless system
  • Precisely measure liquids and solids to mix coating per written procedures.
  • Utilize 5-gallon pressure fed, as well as gravity fed LVMP spray gun to complete jobs.
  • This position requires you to handle toxic chemicals and hazardous waste (paint waste).  Use of proper PPE is required, including wearing a respirator while spraying.
  • Company paid travel may be required occasionally to perform offsite work.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work effectively in a multitask environment under deadlines. Must work independently and show initiative.
  • Actively Participate in Labsphere continuous improvement program.
  • Maintain personal and common work space housekeeping at an acceptable level.
  • Ability to effectively perform all of the above mentioned essential job functions.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills

Optical Calibration Technician

Job Purpose: The Optical Calibration Technician is responsible for performing optical calibrations and measurements of standard as well as custom products in a laboratory environment, and ensuring that products meet required quality standards as well as all specifications and customer expectations.          

Essential Job Functions

  • Sets up test equipment and conducts measurements on performance and reliability of product.
  • Plans sequence of testing and calibration program for instruments and equipment according to blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and other specifications.
  • Meets production schedules.
  • Carefully follows established calibration and test procedures.
  • Analyzes and converts test data using mathematical formulas, reports results, and evaluates data against pass/fail criteria, proposing corrective actions as needed.
  • Confers with engineers, supervisor, and other technical workers to assist with equipment installation, maintenance, and repair techniques.
  • Disassembles and reassembles instruments and equipment, using hand tools, and inspects instruments and equipment for defects.
  • Maintains equipment records and logs.
  • Performs preventative maintenance of test apparatus and peripheral equipment.
  • Writes and maintains test procedures for new and existing product.
  • Other duties as assigned.

General Requirements:

  • Associates degree in a technical discipline required.  A minimum of 2 years experience in a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications .
  • Proficiency in a variety of computer software including the use of spreadsheets, databases, graphs, and word processing. Experience with LabView, Python, and MatLab preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor to deal with internal and external contacts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to work effectively in a multitask environment under deadlines.  Must work independently and show initiative.
  • Flexibility to deal with regularly changing schedule priorities.
  • The ability to meet challenges that lie beyond the current position description and learn to solve problems creatively.
  • Proficiency in a variety of computer software including the use of spreadsheets, databases, graphs and word processing.
  • Ability to effectively perform the entire above mentioned essential job functions.
